Adoption Approval Required:
We are very selective with our adoption placements and maintain a strict approval process to ensure each bird is matched with the best possible home. Potential adopters should expect to provide proof of appropriate caging, along with photos and videos of the home environment where the bird will be living. Applicants will also be asked to complete a specific set of questions so we can better understand their experience level, household, and overall preparedness. Please note that we reserve full authority to approve or deny any adoption application based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, cage setup, household environment, and existing birds or flock dynamics. All adoption placements must be picked up at Parrot Stars.

Scientific Name: Psittacula krameri

Native Range: Indian Subcontinent

The Indian Ringneck Parakeet is a small to medium-sized parrot subspecies within the Psittacula krameri complex. This subspecies is characterized by a slender body, long, tapered tail, and predominantly green plumage, although a wide range of color mutations exists in captivity. Indian Ringneck Parakeets are sexually dimorphic: mature males typically develop a distinct black and rose-colored neck ring, while females and juveniles lack the complete ring. In the wild, they inhabit forests, farmlands, savannas, and urban regions across the Indian subcontinent.

At Parrot Stars, we prioritize education, welfare, and responsible parrot ownership to help ensure every bird finds and thrives in a forever home. Before taking home any parrot, we provide comprehensive guidance on proper caging and setup, positive reinforcement training, household safety, nutrition, and enrichment. Parrots in captivity are still wild animals with all their natural instincts. Your overall success and experience with any species of companion parrot is greatly impacted by positive reinforcement training. A parrot’s behavior reflects both the environment they live in and the training they receive.

All of our hand-fed babies are hatched and raised in our own breeding facility and weaned onto a diverse, high-variety diet. Our parrots are never clipped and are fully flighted.
